But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles
And the patrons and the actors too are uncertain if the show is through and with sidelong looks await their cue, but the frozen mask just smiles

Thing I don't get is why the tax payers should pay to bail out the auto industry that apparently is paying too much to it's workers and charging too much for it's product.
Common sense says if you aren't making money you either cut costs or go under. __________________

I'm kinda torn on this actually.
On the one hand, we have businesses failing and by all rights, since they're not being run properly, they deserve to fail. They've had more than enough time to update and innovate, which they have not taken advantage of. They also have people running those shows that are nowhere near the calibre of a Lee Iacoca or Henry Ford - so subpar I don't even know what to call them but they demand their money and perks as some sort of entitlement like a birthright. It is also most certainly not the governments jobs to either reward these people or invest public funds in commerce in the first place, and don't even get me started on the concept of corporate welfare.
Now for the flip side. We have been sent down this path by the Fed in the first place. We have a capitilist society which is more about consumption than being productive. The auto industry, lackluster as it is, is actually one of our last producers. To just stand by and let them die based solely on ideology is not only reckless but suicidal for our economy at this point.
Brace yourself. I don't blame Bush for this. This started almost a century before he took office. It is the inherant flaws in the system of fractional reserve banking that is finally showing kinks in the armor. We are now starting to pay the price for years upon years of instant gratification and keeping up with the Jones' and being distracted by gadgets and get rich quick schemes. While I think Bush deserves huge measures of justice and comeuppance for his deeds, this financial dead zone shouldn't be on the list of charges against him. He did pick the lesser of two evils here-still evil, but the lesser one. __________________

Well I think our senator Corker has the right idea. If we got to give them money then make the union's lower wages.
See I know the auto industry can't go under, but at the same time it's grossly unfair to ask tax payers to shell out money for other peoples salaries to be sky high only so that we have to pay higher prices for their products we all use. Namely high priced cars. Any other industry would have to cut wages and find ways to produce a cheaper product.
40-70 dollars an hour is outrageous for production. __________________

The only people making that kind of money would be the CEO's, CFO's etc. Nobody on the line is making that. Those failures absolutely do not deserve to be rewarded in any fashion until they fix the damage they each allowed.
I think if Sen. Corker is telling you that any blame belongs to the union, you should stop listening to him immediately. He's feeding you BS. __________________

Let me put it this way.
I'm going to bet without looking that Corker is a republican, which would feed the fuel for making the unions look like bad guys as the unions typically support the democratic side of the battle. Him scapegoating the unions is not a surprise. The bailout originally didn't pass because of just this-the republicans trying to stifle the unions.
Second, you're probably being told how the company has to pay it's laid off employees 80% of their salary once they're laid off. Before jumping on how wrong that is, consider where those people would go for a paycheck if the company didn't pay- welfare and unemployment. If the company didn't pay, we would have to by proxy. I'll bet Corker forget to point that out.
I would also find out actual figures for what those people are getting paid. Not amounts with converted benefit amounts, or how much they can make with overtime or holiday pay. Blue collars are not making 40 dollars or better an hour. __________________
