Just a couple of clips from Fireproof. Normally movies with a lot of lovey dove stuff isn't my cup of tea, but this one has some good action scenes and characters I personally could relate too. I guess it helps that it was filmed in the south. It's nice to see some down home folks just working from day to day trying to do not so simple things like keep their marriage working.
The basic plot is a fireman who almost gets a divorce from his wife and has to learn how to love her even when she doesn't give any love back. Eventually he wins back her heart and both learn about what the meaning of true love is.
God's Amazing Grace, Love & Compassion
Unknowingly Caleb sees the similarities in himself and his wife and his relationship to God. This is the most spiritual scene in the movie. My personal favorite.
There's lots of good scenes even some really funny scenes I think that make this movie the kind of film that anybody can enjoy. Just pulling out clips really doesn't do justice to the movie. It's a very good story. __________________

I saw this at the video store and was gonna try it out but the clerk caught me just in time and took away my lighter. __________________

So how did it do at the box office? That second clip was riveting by the way. That Kirk Cameron sure can act. I WANT THAT BANANA CLIP THAT DISPROVES EVOLUTION.

Dramas usually do better than comedies, don't they?
Really no comparison though. 'The Atheist's Nightmare' wasn't released in theaters. __________________

It was the most successful independent film last year.
It grossed $33,451,479 with a budget of only $500,000.
That's box office numbers any Hollywood movie would love to have.
The movie makes a lot of great points based on Christian principles surrounding marriage like loving your spouse even when they don't necessarily love you back. It's about determining to make a marriage work instead of running away at the slightest bump. It's a message our society really desperately needs these days.
It's puts to rest the idea that marriage should just work without any effort involved which most folks these days think they can fall in and out of love like falling out of bed.
It's a good movie at least for those that can relate to the message and aren't prejudice toward Christians or southerners. __________________

Don't blame the rest of us for being prejudiced against Christians for not supporting a film biased toward them. These things generally cancel each other out like 'I can't tolerate how you are intolerant of my intolerance to those people over there just because I can't tolerate them' It's silly.
As for the prejudice towardsoutherners part, you guys sooooo deserve it. Look at you. __________________

Ok, but for the record this movie doesn't mention any intolerance or tolerance or untolerance of intolerance. It's about how to make marriage work. __________________

I was in Blockbuster tonight and they had about 12 copies of 'Fireproof' for rental. All 12 copies were there unrented. 'Religulous' on the other hand was completely rented out. Not saying it means anything but it brought a little smile to my face.
Religulous made $13,011,160 at the box office on a budget of $2.5 million
Fireproof made $33,456,317 on a budget of $500,000.
I don't know looks like to me God must have been on their side.
And further Fireproof is a movie not about turning anyone against anyone else like "ridiculous" I mean "Religuoluous" or whatever. It's a movie about people. Just regular people trying to hold on to their marriage. The only difference with Fireproof and your typical Hollywood movie is this one gives great principles on which a person can better their marriage. Sure it's wrapped up in Christianity which makes guys like you mad, but even if you took out those elements you would still be left with a positive message that helps others and doesn't seek to lash out like "Rediculous". __________________

Not that this involves me at all, but if I can sit all the way through 'Expelled', you should be able to handle 'Religulous' Tim. You might learn something.
Also, if you can find the info, so we have more of a complete picture of what happened with each of those releases-see if you can find out how many theatres each was released in. Bill Maher's documentary had a pretty limited release to my understanding based solely on it's subject matter. __________________

I'd love to rent it but I can hardly get through those nauseating clips.

It's not exactly an action movie, but it's good family entertainment. Since you and the word family are a million miles apart it might be a few years before you can appreciate this movie. __________________

That's the wisest thing you've said all year. __________________
