I agree with this on the basis if they take tax money. Then it shouldn't go to fund such waste.
On the other hand businesses should not be taking money from tax payers to begin with and should run their business the way they want to. If they fail it should be on them.
Obama is cracking me up with this if we don't act we will be in depression forever crap. If the government would just leave it alone, and stop meddling in business the bad businesses would fail naturally and those with sound business models would rise to the top.
Gee whiz if Obama was Prez a hundred years ago we'd still be riding horses and buggies. After all you can't let the horse and buggy business fail can you? Doesn't matter if that's what the people want or not. __________________

Still kinda torn on it. I know as well as you do that the government is absolutely not supposed to be going into business but to do absolutely nothing is unconscionable at this point. I don't envy Obama with having to sort all that mess out. I do agree that the salary cap was absolutely necessary and since our public funds are being used, make them pay back some of the money they've already squandered while they're at it and squash all bonuses and perks until the business becomes at least solvent again. Other than all that, I agree, let em fail-they earned it. __________________

It's like the natural law of business has been tampered with too much. Unions have it fixed so automakers have to pay outrageous salaries. Government insisted that loan regulations be lowered so normally unqualified borrowers could borrow and so forth.
Things have to go back to simple supply and demand. If your product is worth 10 k to the consumer they will pay it. If not you got to come up with something better or cheaper. But that's not what the automakers want. They want to rip that money out of our hand via the taxes we pay. By golly if we don't buy their cars they'll take it from us through the government. It's welfare for corporations, and it plain sucks.
Corrections are a part of the system. Obama wants us to believe it can't fix itself, but it can if government would just stop trying to fix it and leave it alone. __________________

I certainly don't agree with how you've made your argument on several levels, but the end assessment of how thegovernment should leave it be and butt out is correct. __________________

So are we headed for a socialistic government where everything we do has to go by some official? __________________

They sold us out back in 1913 with Social Security, the Fed and Income Tax. Things look bleak, but not completely hopeless. We've been through rough patches before and we'll do so again, one way or another. __________________

I think we need the government to stick to basics only like defense, roads, and law enforcement.
Technically even roads should be left up the states. __________________

Yep, roads should be left to the states-that's what we're charged tax for on our gasoline-on paper anyways. __________________

You know Ron Paul would have made me a lot happier than Obama as President.
On a side note, do you know that Obama took off Chuck last night to yack about nothing for an hour. __________________

Expect a lot of that. This is the transparency he promised. __________________

I'd rather he kept his comments to during daytime hours so I didn't miss my TV shows. __________________
