This clip is from a 1950's Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin movie called Artists and Models where Dean becomes a comic artist and Jerry is the comic book geek.

Jerry on TV tricked into believing comics made him retarded. No he was just born that way. Funny stuff especially from the point of view of an old comic fan.

This clip is from the perspective of the comic book publisher harping on there not being enough violence to sale his comic. This was probably in reference to all the trouble in Washington against comics that eventually led to the comics code authority

But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles

And the patrons and the actors too are uncertain if the show is through and with sidelong looks await their cue, but the frozen mask just smiles

you know it was running in rotation on HBO a few months ago, had I known there were comic book refernces in it I would have bothered to watch it.

I was always a Hope Crosby fan more than a Martin Lewis fan...being more refined and all.
