Political Discussion / Politics / Money Matters / Obama officials: Taxes may rise to pay health care

Obama's Nay sayers appear to have been correct. Obama's officials are setting things up to justify a tax increase on the middle class to fund Obama's health scare.

Quote:
Two of President Barack Obama's economic heavyweights said middle-class taxes might have to go up to pare budget deficits or to pay for the proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system.

Quote:
Geithner and Summers both sidestepped questions on Obama's intentions about taxes. Geithner said the White House was not ready to rule out a tax hike to reduce the federal deficit; Summers said Obama's proposed health care overhaul needs funding from somewhere.

Quote:
During his presidential campaign, Obama repeatedly pledged "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime." But the simple reality remains that his ambitious overhaul of how Americans receive health care — promised without increasing the federal deficit — must be paid for.

If this comes true Obama is going to become the next Jimmy Carter. Bring on the next Ronald Reagan please.

Considering that he is another politician who doesn't seem to be paying attention to the financial death sentence of the twin threat of Social Security and Medicare-his health plan(s) are but a minor threat in comparison, not to mention the damage already done with the stimulus packages(future ones imminent no less). The problems do not lie solely at Obama's feet however-it's the whole rotten system-we have trully lost our way.

On a side note, Jimmy wasn't that bad and Ronald wasn't that great-they each contributed to where we are now and each had their pros and cons, regardless of anyone's personal politics. We need to learn from the past and avoid repeating the same mistakes.

And the patrons and the actors too are uncertain if the show is through and with sidelong looks await their cue, but the frozen mask just smiles

I'll agree to disagree with you on the Reagan Carter comparison.
