I've noticed that each of the seven presidents from my lifetime have been guilty of a different one of the Biblical "Seven Deadly Sins", for one reason or another. I'm not counting Ford because his ascension was by pure accident, but take note of my list of our leaders's, shall we say, "Capital Vices"?
Nixon - AVARICE(so hungry for power that he resorted to petty crime to get re-elected)
Carter - SLOTH (Once the Camp David Accords were signed, he acted like nothing else(like inflation!) needed his attention)
Reagan - PRIDE (OK, but it was National Pride, which brought us back from the 70's malaise and helped us win the Cold War!)
Bush, Sr. - ENVY (I do admit, he seemed to spend all his four years trying to get out from Reagan's shadow)
Clinton - LUST (Obviously, and the morality of the entire nation has never been the same!)
Bush, Jr. - WRATH (Kind of understandable since it was brought on by 9/11, and who cares if it was felt by terrorists?)
Which leaves Obama, who by now we all wish would leave, and his sin is clearly GLUTTONY. He craves and indulges in all the perks and trappings of the Presidency, but he doesn't bother to listen to the American people, and in a year and a half he hasn't done any work!

Well have to say pride is ok when it's not arrogant pride in one's own abilities that puts down other people. Reagan was always proud of other people's achievements in America.
Carter was just a goober.
Nixon was really creepy after all the things I've read, have to agree with your assessment. __________________

I posted this on another site, and only response I got was from some wiseguy who said that Bush had the worst vice of them all... CHENEY!
Not bad for a politcal joke, but then, there's none bigger than the Obama administration!

See I would say Nixon is pride (his view being that when the President does it, it isn't illegal) and Regan perhaps should be Gluttony (afterall Greed is good) which can still lead to Obama being Avarice (everyone should have everything) but in here you find the basic problem in the analogy.
You could probably call any president any of the seven deadly sins (GWBush was an alcaholic, and rumored to have fallen off the wagon while in the WH, so he could too be gluttony if you wanted) and none of them will come off well in it, because well they are the seven deadly sins.
Also, I'd hardly call Carter Sloth, he was a micromanager by all accounts, so he's probably pretty prideful too. Oh, and you forgot the greatest of them all, the only Michigander to be President. Our own President Gerald, the giant, Ford. Who could be sloth...but is probably known more for klutziness (which is not a sin) than anything else.

I think I love how none of them is a virtue in anyone's estimation. Terrific. __________________
