Personal preference of an actor versus the facts of an ugly track record, guess which one wins in mine. __________________

I saw a commercial on TV last night that said Perry was going on late night with David Letterman. I wonder how that went especially since Letterman is a huge liberal. __________________

I'm sure we'll be able to watch the replay soon enough. In the meantime:

Perry went on Letterman poking fun at his performance.
Perry's Top 10 excuses on Letterman:
10. "Actually there were three reasons I messed up last night. One was the nerves, two was the headache and three was, and three, uh, uh. Oops."
9. "I don't know what you're talking about. I think things went well."
8. "Hey, I was up late last night watching 'Dancing With the Stars.'"
7. "I thought the debate was tonight."
6. "Hey, listen. You try concentrating with Mitt Romney smiling at you. That is one handsome dude."
5. "Uh, el nino?"
4. "I had a five-hour energy drink six hours before the debate."
3. "I really hoped to get on my favorite talk show, but instead I ended up here."
2. "Hey, I wanted to help take the heat off my buddy Herman Cain."
1. "I just learned Justin Bieber is my father."
You know at this point I'm not sure why Gingrich isn't at first place with Romney second. I listened to a lot of the debate while I worked yesterday. Romney and Gingrich seemed to be the best. Cain was good though but the chick fiasco makes me nervous. __________________

You know I think the fact that you are refering to it as "the Chick fiasco" suggests exactly why it hasn't hurt his campaign yet. If there is at it's core a willingness of his base to dismiss the charges, why should they be bothered by the fact that "some chicks" got a settelment out of the lawyers hired by the NAtional Resturant Association.
As to Perry...the man just needs to call it a day. You know there was actually a context for most big gaffs in political history. That doesn't make them any les a gaff, and as gaffs go, blanking on your key policies is a pretty big one (that and his kind of crazy performance in New Hampshire previously).
If you come off as a Saturday Night Live Parody of yourself, you probably aren't going to be elected president.
Really, at this point as it progresses, I think Gingrich and Romney will come out as the front runners by Iowa. And that will actually be bad for the Republicans long term.
Since niehter is really a Tea Party leader, and both have a history of centrist positions and political activity, when they lose it will be blamed on them not being conservative enough, which will be the wrong message for the Republicans to take away from all this, and pretty much guarantee the DEmocrats control through the last four years of Obama's presidency and possibly electing his Democratic successor as well before they left undoes much of the conservative movement of the last 30 years.
But that's politics I suppose.

I think Gingrich is plenty conservative enough. At least for me anyway. I'd be very happy to have Gingrich win in fact I'm surprised it has taken this long for him to rise to the top.
I like Cain, but I actually have more trust in Gingrich. He's a very smart guy, and from all reports he hasn't had any controversial problems that haven't been out there for years and apologized for. __________________
