Political Discussion / Politics / President / Candidate Scrapbook: Herman Cain

Looks like we need a discussion on Herman Cain. He may be rocketing to the top.

Poll has him in the lead.

Quote:
A new Zogby poll puts Herman Cain at the top of the Republican field, as the top choice of 28% of poll respondents.  (IBOPE Zogby International says the polling sample consists of “all likely voters and of likely Republican primary voters.”)

Rounding out the top three are Rick Perry at 18%, and Mitt Romney at 17%.  Fourth place goes to Ron Paul at 11%.  Paul’s the most solid performer in Zogby’s polling history for the 2012 GOP race – his 11% might as well be chiseled in stone.

From what I know of him, I like him. He really does sound great that's for sure.

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: "The Rodney Dangerfield of Republican politics," not getting any respect from Republican Party establishment? Well, that's what Mr. Herman Cain has called himself. But his view must have changed this view and a lot of other people when the Florida straw poll voters showed Mr. Herman Cain respect, big-time respect! In the straw poll in Florida over the weekend, Mr. Herman Cain clobbered the GOP front-runners, Governor Rick Perry and former governor Mitt Romney. It wasn't even close!

Liberal Confronts Herman Cain!

Herman Cain dealt with a group of liberals who came to confront him during one of his live events.

Herman Cain debates Bill Clinton

At the end Bill had to go on to another subject because Cain had him beat in the numbers game it seems.

Anybody who votes for Democrats are pretty much brain washed.

I kinda agree, but I'll expand that. Anyone who votes based on party should probably be prevented from voting; they're a danger to the rest of us.

Chicks that use the f word sound worse than a chick that can't get a name right.

As far as Palin goes, I think she's about to get in. I wouldn't use the term flavor of the week just because Cain is for real.

I think the 'flavor of the week' label rests more on the shoulders of the party which seems to keep shifting who their support goes to week by week, and is not a negative characterization of Cain specifically.

Herman Cain to Harry Belafonte: I Left the Plantation a Long Time Ago

Shame Belafonte is such a commie, he's got some awfully good songs.

Why are you calling Harry Belafonte a commie?

Cain - I'll challenge Perry for evangelical votes

Quote:
HARRIMAN, Tenn. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain said Saturday he'll go toe-to-toe with Rick Perry for the GOP primary's critical evangelical vote.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Cain said the Texas governor "thought he had carved out that niche, when he didn't own that niche by himself."

"People are realizing that he is not the only Christian conservative in this race," Cain told The AP at a campaign stop in Harriman, Tenn., where he spoke before close to 1,000 tea party activists.

"You know, I don't wear my Christian faith, which has been my faith since I was 10 years old, on my forehead," Cain said. "But people can see it on my website and when they read my credentials they can see I'm a staunch Christian conservative, and they are saying 'wait a minute.'''.

The Georgia businessman drew rousing applause at a recent Values Voters Summit in Washington. His stump speeches are marked by references to God and at one recent campaign rally in rural Tennessee before a socially conservative crowd by singing a hymn.

Perry has a strong track record among religious, voters organizing a rally just before entering the race for the White House that drew 30,000 people.

Religious voters hold sway in choosing the Republican nominee, especially in some early states like Iowa and South Carolina.

Cain was barnstorming across Tennessee Saturday, completing a bus tour. Polls show him vaulting to the top tier of the GOP contest.

On the abortion video with John Stossel sounds like Cain is really really tired. Seriously, he's not a stupid man. The same thing happened to Perry in his debate performances. He put in a weak debate performance because he was on the go too much. I'm real big in to health and fitness as you know and one thing people just don't get these days is what the lack of sleep will do to your judgment and your ability to think and perform.

I totally recommend to Cain and the rest, get some sleep. Better to do less talking and fewer shows than to lose for getting your position wrong.

Romney is going to win just because he's not sweating it. He's taking his time like the tortoise vs the hare. I really do hope somebody more conservative wins though even though I will definitely support Romney over Obama. Still not counting out Perry though, and maybe Cain will get some sleep and start to make sense again.

That didn't look like tired. That looked like someone trying to please everyone at once and tripping over his own feet. Let's go with the 'just tired' angle though, just for arguments sake.

This is just campaigning. If they can't operate under this level of stress, why would we want them as President?

Turkey guy might be right about Cain not being quite ready at least in his campaigning methods, but you notice how he is so happy about it. Just one question does he ever attack anyone for being too liberal?

I bet if he was out to get Obama and the dems as much as he is republicans he would find just as many stupid statements and missteps.

Not taking it personal I hope?

Not that I'm aware but that would depend on what you mean by 'too liberal'.

Quote:

He goes after Obama all the time.
