"The king's cheese is half wasted in parings; but no matter, 'tis made of the people's milk." --Benjamin Franklin

I'm sure he meant this as a shot against tax-happy tyrant King George III, but sadly it seems to have become the motto of our own Congress!

I think we should go back to the idea of term limits in congress, and take away all of their perks so only the truly patriotic will take up the job. Enough of career politicians. They've had too much practice at lying.

well, tim, I disagree on a couple of points. Let me start with term limits. We already have term limits, they are called elections. In Congress particularly, the representatives are accountable to the people that elected them first, so, for example, if the people of Mass. keep deciding to re-elect that fat drunken socialist windbag Ted Kennedy no matter hwo many people he kills what business is it of me in Georgia what they do?
Now, I know that once a person gets in office, it is hard to get rid of them. There are a lot of reasons for that, but most of the reasons can be summed up by a stupid electorate. Hard to fix that.
Also, term limits are not in the Constitution.

Well I think it's a good way to keep a politician from becoming too powerful and corrupt which is in line with the spirit of the constitution.

Then why didn't the Founders include that?

The founders did allow for adding new Constitutional amendments, right?

And that is exactly what it would take.
