Political Discussion / Politics / Politics and Entertainment / Morgan Freeman on Racism

Posted:  15 Aug 2008 19:48
Freeman has publicly criticized the celebration of Black History Month and does not participate in any related events, saying, "I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history." He says the only way to end racism is to stop talking about it, and he notes that there is no "white history month". Freeman once said on an interview with 60 Minutes' Mike Wallace: "I am going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man." source: wikipedia

The man makes sense.

I always thought Morgan Freeman had class. I agree with him. I remember I had to write an article for my school paper once about Black History Month, and I didn't like doing it because I disagreed with the idea of it, so I mentioned this little fact: The man who started it all, first came up with Black History Week, and he intended for it to only be there for a short time, because he expected black history to be interwined with American history. You know he never had planned on it turning into a month!

Oh, and by the way: I'm a new member. I heard about this place on Tim's Captain America site.

Guess that's addressing me then.

It is Tim's site, but welcome just the same.

Uh...no, I wasn't addressing you, I was just adding to the discussion about Black History Month.
