Quote:
Image Comics has revealed that in Savage Dragon #137, the lead character will endorse Democrat Barack Obama for president with a special variant cover.

"Four years ago the Dragon was a reluctant presidential candidate," Savage Dragon creator Erik Larsen said. "Fans have asked if he'll be running again, but given the importance of the upcoming election it seemed appropriate that he would back Barack Obama, the candidate whose politics most reflect his own. Savage Dragon will be giving Barack Obama his full support."

Savage Dragon made his initial play for the presidential election in the 2004 campaign, but rescinded once the man claiming to be his running mate turned out to be Dreadknight, a supervillain bent on world domination.

Savage Dragon #137 will sport a special 1:5 variant cover featuring Dragon formally endorsing Obama.

The issue will be in stores on Sept. 3.

Well Erik Larsen must really like Obama to risk any and all republican fans he might have which he probably lost a long time ago anyway. I don't know everything there is to know about it, but I believe he had made some sort of anti-Bush comic with the Savage Dragon a while back.

Well I've always liked the Savage Dragon, so I can wait till it hits the 50 cent bins. No use in rewarding politics I don't agree with. I bet it would be interesting to read even for a conservative like me.

Can you imagine if DC Comics put out an issue with Superman supporting a candidate?

Maybe Savage Dragon should be red instead of green. Actually go ahead and let Obama become the president of the Image Universe and we'll let the non-socialists run the real world.

I would be ticked off if they had had a character I liked very much--like Captain America--endorse Obama.

Does seem odd. Is Erik Larsen a veteran by any chance? He might be lashing out at McCain. Just a crazy thought.

And the patrons and the actors too are uncertain if the show is through and with sidelong looks await their cue, but the frozen mask just smiles

I think he's just a big liberal. I don't hate him for it. It's his mag he can do what he wants to, but I don't think it's a way to drum up business unless a lot of Obama supporters buy the book.

Might have been safer to say have the Savage Dragon assigned to protect Obama from a super villain attack. Getting in people's faces to much will cost him fans.
