In schools, but in context with all the others before and current. Not as a guiding light to a heaven that doesn't exist.
America was here before God. Ask the injuns. Oh, wait, God wanted them out of the way, so they're almost all gone.
This country was blessed by hard work, abundant resources, superior technology and the obliteration of anyone standing in our way. Most countries ascend the same way.
My life came from my parents doing the nasty. My liberty came from me being born in the U.S. And the concept of liberty as our forefathers took it came from the Greeks. They might have said our CREATOR imbued individual liberty in us, but the philosophy behind it came from Athens circa 500ish BC.

So folks in Athens believed that God created all men with certain inalienable rights? I didn't know that. Say where are those Athens folks now anyhow? __________________Lucas McCain the Rifleman: A man doesn't run from a fight, Mark...but that doesn't mean you should go running *to* one, either.

No, they were the first people to talk about individual freedom, that one person was an independent political force. People later said it was God's doing.
Um, they're still in Athens, which is a very religious city, overall.

Also, while Greeks are a very deeply religious people, most also believe in evolution and that the world is millions of years old. They think that is how God has worked his creation.
Why do they think this? Because they have artifacts that date back thousands and thousands of years.

Captain, suffice to say that I have been on both sides of this argument. __________________1 TIMOTHY 1

So have I, preacher man. I didn't come to my path lightly, and even if I were a man of Christian (or any) faith, I'd still believe in evolution and keeping church and state separate.
I really want to know: What happened to the other gods? Anyone have any thoughts?

They live until someone better comes along. __________________But the backdrops peel and the sets give way and the cast get eaten by the play, there's a murderer at the matinee, there are dead men in the aisles
And the patrons and the actors too are uncertain if the show is through and with sidelong looks await their cue, but the frozen mask just smiles

Did you ever read "The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul" by Douglas Adams? That's one theory.
Captain, I didnt mean to imply that I have somehow been around the block more than you or anything like that. I don't claim to be any more insightful or clever or anyhting like that than anyone who might disagree with me. I really beleive the only way I got to where I was at was through God's grace and him revealing himself to me.
That's why I don't feel like I have to spend a lot of time here defending God or defending his book. At a certain point, it just becoems a bunch of peoepl shouting at each other and being uncivil, and it's pretty unproductive. It's not up to me to make God's case for him. You have access to a Bible, you can either believe it or not. Either way, I'll try to show you respect because I'm no better than you, chances are, I'm a lot worse. I won't compromise my beliefs and we can civilly discuss the issue, but sometimes you just have to agree to disagree and one day we'll both know. __________________1 TIMOTHY 1

Captain, I would be interested to hear how you got to where you are, though. Email me sometime. __________________1 TIMOTHY 1
